The SCOOP Art Auction 2022- Annual Fundraiser
After hosting the event online for the last two years, we are delighted to announce that our biggest annual fundraiser – The SCOOP Art Auction is back with a one-day live auction and a separate live virtual auction in April. The live auction takes place at The Iveagh Garden Hotel in Dublin. In April 2021, we sold over 400 artworks at the auction and offered to split the hammer with the artists.
This year, we are excited to welcome back our master auctioneer, George Gerard Mealy! We can’t wait to see him do what he does best!
THIS YEAR’S FORMAT
This year we will host two auctions; the first will be a one-day LIVE in-person auction of 200 artworks and the second is a LIVE Virtual Auction that will stream on Invaluable.com (search SCOOP Foundation) or download their app so you can leave bids or bid in real-time from literally anywhere.
HOW DOES THE LIVE VIRTUAL AUCTION WORK?
The Virtual Auction will take place LIVE online with Calvin, Andy & auctioneer George Mealy broadcasting at 7 pm on www.invaluable.com (search SCOOP Foundation).
You can watch the live stream on your laptop/desktop and bid in real-time with the click of a button, or take advantage of their super cool app and bid from anywhere on your smartphone.
ONLINE BIDDING:
Online bidding for the LIVE Auction will still be available on Invaluable for those who wish to stay at home. The Virtual Auction also takes place on the Invaluable platform and kicks off on Thursday, April 28th at 7pm. To register for either sale, visit SCOOP’s Invaluable page here.
HOW WILL THE FUNDS BE USED?
Being SCOOP’s biggest fundraiser, The Art Auction technically funds all aspects of the organisation, including further development of the SCOOP Ed Programme - our educational programmes aimed to support young Internally Displaced People (IDP) living in camps in Iraq and refugees living in Direct Provision Centres in Ireland.
The Arts community have been an important benefactor for SCOOP since the SCOOP Foundation began. As a token of appreciation, a percentage of the funds raised at this year’s Art Auction will go towards our Artist Fund. SCOOP has developed art-based programmes in Direct Provision to support artists living in the centres. Our Artist Residency Programme receives support through the Artist Fund.
We will also allocate a portion of the funds to our current Ukrainian Emergency Fund and Ukrainian Children’s Fund to support our efforts on the ground since the war began.
